NOTE.—As a part of the crime prevention program, early in 1942, the Secret Service Division in cooperation with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System compiled and distributed to all banks a card index describing counterfeit bills which have appeared in circulation since the size of United States paper money was changed in 1929. The cards are printed in colors according to denominations. A new card, which bears an outline drawing of the counterfeit and a brief description of any outstanding defects, is issued for each new counterfeit as it appears.
