NOTE.—Post route maps, as listed below, are available to the public at the prices indicated, effective Jan. 5, 1950.
Each of these maps shows all post offices within the State, indicates the method and frequency of mail supply and gives the intermediate distances on mail-supply routes. County boundaries are accurately delineated and each county is named. Townships are not shown. The principal drainage features are shown bat contour is omitted. The lines of mail-carrying railroads (the only railroads shown) are carefully located, but the indications of other supply services are merely diagrammatic, as no highways are drawn on these maps.
Dated editions of post route maps are published every two years. They are photolithographic copies printed in three colors on paper of a grade suitable for mounting. Mounted maps cannot be supplied, however.

Rural delivery maps are available for every rural mail route la the United States. These are road maps drawn to the scale of 1:62,500 or 1:63,360 (1 mile to the inch). County maps have been prepared for 1,605 counties, a list of which may be obtained from the Division of Finance, Post Office Department, or ascertained by reference, to the County list in the Official postal guide. Each county map shows, in addition to the roads currently traveled by rural carriers, all post offices within the county and all other roads, houses, schools and churches known at the time the map was originally drawn, together with the principal drainage features. Local mans are available for all other routes—not shown on the 1,605 county maps. Each of these maps covers only the area served by an individual post office. Reference to the Official postal guide will show the offices having rural service and maps. Contact prints of these revised originals are sold only by the Division of Finance. Post Office Department.
