The individual maps are projected to represent quadrangle arena rather than political divisions, each map is designated by the name of some. prominent town or natural feature within that area. About half of the continental area of the country, excluding Alaska, has been mapped, every State being represented. Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Colombia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York Ohio Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, and West Virginia are completely mapped. Index maps showing topographic maps published for each State are available without cost on request to The Director, Geological Survey. Except as otherwise indi cated, a discount of 20 percent is allowed on an order for maps, or for maps and geologic folios, that amounts to $10.00 at the retail price. in ordering, give the name and scale of each map and the State in which the area lies.
